Annual survey

UK Imams Pulse

The annual, anonymous survey of imams' working lives in the UK. Evidence from imams, for imams.

The UK Imams Pulse is the Guild's annual survey of the people who lead the UK's mosques. Each year it asks the same core questions about contracts, pay, hours, rest, support and morale, so we can see what is changing and press for improvements with evidence rather than anecdote.

Why it matters

There is very little reliable data on imams' working conditions. The Pulse gives the profession its own evidence base. The Guild uses it to:

  • set its priorities for the year;
  • brief mosque bodies, funders and public institutions;
  • track whether things are getting better, year on year.

How it works

  • Who can take part: approved Guild members. Each member can respond once per year.
  • How long it takes: about five minutes.
  • When: the survey opens each autumn for around six weeks.

Your anonymity

  • Your answers are stored without your name or any link to your account. The Guild records only that you have taken part, so that nobody can respond twice.
  • Results are reported only in summary, and nothing is shown until at least five members have responded.
  • We never ask about your health, beliefs or other sensitive personal matters.
  • Please do not include names or identifying details in free-text answers.

Results

Summary findings are published on this page and in the Guild's advocacy and research section each year.
